Dental crown types include:

Porcelain fused to metal: traditional, but aesthetically nor the most desirable, as they may show a black line after some time.
   
Bonded all Porcelain Crown: All-ceramic crowns:, as it is made entirely of porcelain. Dentist should have undertaken additional training in order to fit these type of crowns well. These crowns are not as strong as bonded crowns. 
  
Porcelain and composite:
Mainly used for front teeth as they can look very natural.
  
All-ceramic crowns: 
Newer dental technique. Regarded as aesthetically very desirable, and also strong. 
 
Glass:
Mainly used for front teeth
 
Precious metal (gold and palladium):
Very strong, but only used for back of teeth.
