The latest video work by the London- based French/ Algerian
artist, shot on and around the area of the waterfront in the Port
of Algiers The piece draws on a series of visits by Sedira to the
country of her parents birth. Confronting the contemporary life of
the city with an older and more ambivalent legacy, Saphir presents
a portrait of Algiers in a transitional moment, the local
character gradually becoming absorbed into the current of
increasing globalisation.
This will be her first major solo exhibition in London.
Cinémathèque de Tanger: Explorations in Film and Video

Cinémathèque de Tanger is located in the heart of Tangier
Morocco. This exhibition transforms The Photographers' Gallery
into a trans-Arab video library showcasing video and film work
produced, and unearthed, throughout the diverse and complex
cultural, political, social space of the Arab world. A world that
now spans from Beirut to Paris to Los Angeles and back again.
This exhibition will transform the space at The Photographers'
Gallery into a free Cinémathèque de Tanger vidéothèque
exhibiting work from over 30 artists.
InFocus: TreeHouse Camera Obscura

The TreeHouse Camera Obscura is a unique art object and a place
for the children to play and explore. Teachers from the schools
will use it to explain the principles of light, photography and
image making.

The bluebells form a vast purple carpet extended to infinity in a
forest just emerging from winter. The photographs are part of a
larger series taken in France, Germany, Spain and Japan between
2003 and 2006.
