A nature-immersed art destination redefining experiential travel in Thailand

Khao Yai Art Forest Lands on TIME’s World’s Greatest Places 2026 List

Thailand’s creative landscape has earned another moment on the global stage as TIME Magazine names Khao Yai Art Forest among its World’s Greatest Places 2026, a curated list of 100 standout destinations and travel experiences worldwide.

Set against the lush backdrop of Khao Yai, the contemporary art destination is quietly reshaping how we experience both art and nature. It is one of five Thai representatives on this year’s list, alongside destinations spanning hospitality, slow travel, and design-led experiences, signaling a broader shift toward meaning-driven tourism.

At its core, Khao Yai Art Forest is not just an exhibition space. It is an evolving dialogue between landscape and creativity. Large-scale installations are woven into the terrain, encouraging visitors to slow down, engage, and reflect. This approach taps directly into the rise of experience-based travel, where depth, storytelling, and emotional resonance matter more than checklist sightseeing.

One of its most talked-about works is The Pulse of Life by Scenocosme, an interactive installation that invites visitors to physically connect with trees. By listening, touching, or embracing the natural elements, guests become part of the artwork itself. The piece blurs the boundary between human and environment, using technology to translate subtle biological signals into poetic sensory experiences.

Beyond the installations, the destination is expanding into culinary storytelling with the upcoming opening of Bloom by Wuttisak. The concept follows a mountain-to-table philosophy, drawing ingredients directly from the surrounding ecosystem and nearby communities. Fire-based cooking techniques take center stage, highlighting the raw, elemental flavors of each ingredient while reinforcing a deeper connection between land, culture, and cuisine.

Helmed by Chef Wuttisak Wuttiamporn, a veteran of Thailand’s five-star hotel kitchens, the restaurant is positioned as more than a dining venue. It is an extension of the forest’s artistic ethos, where each dish is conceived as both narrative and craft, bridging contemporary Thai cuisine with environmental awareness.

For Bangkok-based explorers, accessibility is part of the appeal. A weekend-friendly one-day trip shuttle runs from Bangkok Kunsthalle, making it an easy cultural escape from the city. The journey itself becomes part of the experience, transitioning from urban energy to forest stillness in just a few hours.

Recognition from TIME is more than an accolade. It positions Khao Yai Art Forest as a new kind of destination for Thailand, one that speaks to a global audience seeking immersive, thoughtful travel. Here, art is not confined to walls, and nature is not just scenery. Instead, the two exist in constant conversation, inviting visitors to step in, slow down, and listen a little more closely.
