Marriott International is set to expand its luxury footprint in Southeast Asia with the signing of a landmark agreement with KS Hotels that will introduce The Luxury Collection to Cambodia and Laos for the first time.

The deal will see two storied boutique properties join the brand’s prestigious portfolio: La Résidence Angkor in Siem Reap and La Résidence Phou Vao in Luang Prabang. Both hotels are deeply rooted in their destinations and will undergo thoughtful enhancements to meet The Luxury Collection’s global standards while preserving their architectural character and cultural authenticity.

The move also marks a significant milestone for Marriott International, representing the company’s first hotel in Laos and further strengthening its presence across the region.

According to Rajeev Menon, President of Asia Pacific excluding China at Marriott International, the agreement reflects the brand’s commitment to distinctive, place-driven luxury.

These destinations are ideal for global travelers seeking immersive cultural experiences, he noted, adding that both properties combine architectural elegance with locally inspired design. As part of The Luxury Collection, they will continue to celebrate their heritage while offering the elevated service and curated experiences the brand is known for.

A Hilltop Sanctuary in Luang Prabang

Expected to debut in October 2026, La Résidence Phou Vao, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Luang Prabang will occupy one of the city’s most serene hilltop locations. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, the resort overlooks the UNESCO-protected old town, golden temple spires, and the Mekong River.

The property is expected to feature 41 spacious rooms and suites that incorporate traditional Lao craftsmanship and refined natural materials, with private balconies or patios framing views of the surrounding hills. Enhancements planned for the resort will focus on elevating the guest experience while maintaining its architectural integrity and tranquil atmosphere.

Dining will center on La Brasserie de la Résidence, where classic French bistro cuisine meets an exploratory Lao menu. Guests can expect open kitchens, a poolside terrace with views toward Mount Phousi’s golden temple, and an experience designed to reflect the region’s rich culinary heritage.

Additional facilities are set to include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, yoga deck, and a new spa sanctuary, along with meeting rooms and a boutique showcasing curated local crafts.

Set at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, Luang Prabang remains one of Southeast Asia’s most culturally preserved cities. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the former royal capital is known for its French colonial architecture, saffron-robed monks, and centuries-old temples.

Gateway to Angkor

La Résidence Angkor in Siem Reap is scheduled to join The Luxury Collection in October 2027. Located along the Siem Reap River near the entrance to Angkor Archaeological Park, the property has long been a favored address for travelers exploring one of the world’s most extraordinary temple complexes.

The resort is expected to feature 59 rooms, including 14 spacious suites ranging from 40 to 126 square meters. Each space will showcase refined classical Cambodian design elements, blending heritage aesthetics with contemporary comfort.

Plans also include three exclusive residences with private outdoor pools, offering guests an elevated level of privacy and luxury.

Dining will span a diverse culinary spectrum. La Brasserie de La Résidence will provide elegant alfresco dining, while Khmer Funk, a street-facing eatery, will spotlight vibrant Mekong regional flavors. Additional venues will include a café, a cocktail lounge inspired by the spirit of exploration, and a pool bar.

The property will also feature a spa with six treatment rooms, hydrothermal facilities, and relaxation areas, alongside an outdoor pool, fitness center, boutique retail space, and event facilities.

Beyond the iconic temples of Angkor, Siem Reap continues to evolve as a cultural hub with lively markets, contemporary art initiatives, and easy access to the floating communities of Tonlé Sap Lake.

Expanding Luxury Across Southeast Asia

With these additions, The Luxury Collection continues to expand its presence across Southeast Asia. The brand already operates properties in Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia, and the two new destinations will further strengthen its portfolio of culturally rich and distinctive hotels.

As part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global network of more than 30 hotel brands, both properties will also introduce curated Destination Discovery experiences designed to connect guests with the cultural, artistic, and historical heritage of Cambodia and Laos.

The result is a luxury travel experience that celebrates not just the destination, but the stories and traditions that define it.
