Bangkok’s international community gathered on 7 March 2026 for the New Zealand Ball 2026, an annual gala celebrating the cultural and economic ties between Thailand and New Zealand. Held in the ballroom of the InterContinental Bangkok, the event was organized by the New Zealand Society Thailand together with the New Zealand–Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Among the distinguished guests was His Excellency Jonathan Kings, New Zealand’s ambassador to Thailand, who joined business leaders, corporate partners, and members of the New Zealand community for an evening highlighting the relationship between the two countries.

The program opened with a traditional Māori welcome ceremony, followed by a Kapa Haka performance by members of the New Zealand community in Thailand. Rooted in Māori cultural heritage, the performance offered a powerful introduction to the evening’s celebration of New Zealand traditions.

Entertainment continued with a live performance by Kuhtze Band, a New Zealand group known for its appearances at international cultural events. The band’s energetic set brought guests to the dance floor and added a lively rhythm to the evening.

Cuisine also played a central role in the event. Brett McGregor, the first winner of MasterChef New Zealand, created a special menu for the gala using premium New Zealand ingredients. A highlight of the menu was Mt. Cook Alpine Salmon, showcasing the quality and global reputation of the country’s seafood.

The guest list included representatives from leading airlines, hospitality groups, and regional organizations, reflecting the strong business connections between Thailand and New Zealand. Companies such as Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, Beca, Fonterra, Gurin Energy, and Mainfreight were among the supporters of the event.

Beyond the cultural performances and fine dining, the evening also served as a networking platform for business leaders and members of the diplomatic community. Guests connected over shared interests while taking part in fundraising activities that supported community initiatives.

Held annually in Bangkok, the New Zealand Ball has become a key social and business gathering for the New Zealand community in Thailand, offering a space to celebrate cultural heritage while strengthening the growing partnership between the two nations.
