Blending Thai cultural charm, sustainability, and premium comfort, Sawanu Travel redefines island-hopping with purpose and pride

As global travelers become more mindful of how and why they travel, marine tourism in Thailand is entering a new chapter. At the forefront of this shift is Sawanu Travel, a Phuket-based cruise operator setting out to redefine how visitors experience the Andaman Sea. With its Premium Eco Voyage concept, the brand blends world-class comfort and safety with a deep respect for nature, local culture, and long-term environmental stewardship.
Rooted in the waters of Phuket and the wider Andaman Sea, Sawanu Travel responds to the growing rise of ecotourism, where travelers are no longer focused solely on destinations but on the impact their journeys leave behind. Sustainability, responsibility, and meaningful engagement now shape the way people explore the sea, and Sawanu Travel has designed its itineraries to reflect this evolution.
Each voyage is crafted to celebrate the natural beauty of the islands while encouraging a deeper appreciation of marine ecosystems and coastal communities. From thoughtful route planning to onboard experiences, the company aims to establish marine tourism standards that allow travel and conservation to grow side by side. The result is a journey that feels immersive, educational, and deeply connected to place.
Guided by its vision to become Phuket’s leading premium cruise tour operator, Sawanu Travel balances Thai cultural warmth with international service standards. Beginning in the fourth quarter of 2025, the brand positions itself as an eco-friendly luxury cruise operator, one that champions environmental preservation while enhancing traveler well-being and celebrating local traditions along the way.
“At Sawanu Travel, our goal is to deliver exceptional cruise experiences that truly meet the needs of travelers exploring Phuket and the Andaman Sea,” said Nattawut Sawatyanon, Executive of Sawanu Travel Co., Ltd. “We deeply appreciate the beauty and value of nature and are committed to preserving it for Thailand and the world for generations to come.”
Beyond comfort and design, sustainability sits at the core of the company’s operations. Sawanu Travel has partnered with Mu Ko Similan National Park as a host sponsor for conservation initiatives, providing vessels for activities such as sea turtle releases and returning hermit crabs to their natural habitats. These efforts took place at the Surin Islands and Similan Islands ahead of the 2025 tourism season, marking the beginning of a long-term commitment to marine conservation.
Looking ahead to 2026, Sawanu Travel has outlined a series of environmental and social initiatives, including composting food waste for local farmers and reducing plastic bottle usage by more than 50 percent through campaigns encouraging guests to bring reusable bottles. The brand is also collaborating with Thai and international partners to introduce wellness-focused activities that align with mindful travel values.
Community empowerment plays an equally important role. Future projects aim to showcase diverse expressions of Thainess, from Baba Nyonya costumes and southern-style Cha Chak tea to organic Thai fruits sourced directly from local farmers. These cultural elements allow travelers to connect more deeply with the regions they visit, reinforcing the idea that the journey itself holds as much value as the destination.
Founded by a passionate sea enthusiast, Sawanu Travel currently operates more than 25 vessels, ranging from private yachts to premium speed catamarans, with over 15 popular itineraries around Phuket. Plans are underway to expand routes to the Similan and Surin Islands later this year. With service standards likened to business-class travel and a strong emphasis on safety, comfort, and Thai hospitality, every voyage is designed to feel personal and purposeful.
