Chef Vicky Cheng presents the iconic roast duck as a layered experience that moves between Cantonese tradition and Thai sensibility

High above the city on the 56th floor of EA Rooftop at The Empire, K by Vicky Cheng is preparing to unveil a new signature that speaks to both craft and culture. The restaurant’s forthcoming Peking Duck offering is conceived as a three style journey, one that unfolds course by course with precision, restraint, and a clear sense of narrative. Set against sweeping skyline views, the experience reflects the restaurant’s philosophy of honoring Chinese culinary heritage while allowing it to evolve in a contemporary Bangkok context.
The opening serving sets the tone with a tableside carving of crisp duck skin and tender meat, served with homemade pancakes. House made Peking duck sauce is joined by a Thai inspired accompaniment that adds gentle brightness rather than heat, while seedless Thai tamarind refreshes the palate with natural acidity. Cucumber and leek complete the plate, creating a balanced introduction that feels both classic and quietly modern.
Guests opting for the two serving experience continue with a roasted duck leg, where the focus shifts to depth and richness. The meat is exceptionally tender, its savory notes layered with a subtle sweetness that lingers without excess. It is a course that highlights the quality of the duck itself, allowing technique and time to do most of the talking.
The full three serving journey concludes with a confident nod to Thailand. Stir fried duck kaprao brings fragrant holy basil and chili into the picture, transforming a familiar Thai favorite into something refined and elevated. The dish lands with warmth and energy, closing the experience on a note that feels rooted in place while remaining true to the restaurant’s Chinese foundations.

The first overseas restaurant by Vicky Cheng, K by Vicky Cheng blends Cantonese traditions with modern technique, art led interiors, and one of the city’s most dramatic dining settings. This new Peking Duck experience captures that balance perfectly, offering diners not just a dish, but a carefully paced expression of identity, memory, and movement across cultures.
