Siam Seaplane's New Don Mueang Hub Signals a New Era for Luxury Travel in Thailand

The expansion strengthens Bangkok's premium aviation landscape and brings Thailand one step closer to launching its first commercial seaplane network
Thailand's islands, hidden bays, and waterfront retreats have long been synonymous with luxury travel. Yet reaching some of the country's most desirable destinations often involves a combination of road transfers, ferry rides, and connecting flights. Siam Seaplane believes there is a better way.
The aviation company has unveiled an expanded operational hub at Don Mueang International Airport, reinforcing ambitions to reshape how travelers move between Bangkok and Thailand's coastal destinations. More than an infrastructure announcement, the development offers a glimpse into a future where seaplanes become part of the country's premium travel ecosystem.
Located within Terminal 1 at Don Mueang Airport, the new facility serves as Siam Seaplane's operational headquarters, supporting flight operations, guest services, and future network expansion. For travelers, it represents another step toward faster, more seamless journeys to destinations that are traditionally difficult to access.
The company's long-term vision focuses on premium last-mile connectivity, allowing travelers to bypass lengthy overland journeys and arrive closer to resorts, marinas, and remote destinations.
Two future operating networks are currently being developed. The first is an Andaman network designed to connect some of Southern Thailand's most sought-after destinations, including Phuket, Phang Nga, Koh Yao Noi, Krabi, Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, and Trang. For luxury travelers, this could mean significantly shorter transfer times and easier multi-destination itineraries across the Andaman coast.
The second centers around Bangkok, with proposed routes linking the capital to destinations such as Pattaya, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Rayong, Koh Chang, and Koh Kood within approximately 90 minutes.
Supporting this expansion, Siam Seaplane has also revealed plans for a dedicated operational hub in Krabi, which is expected to play an important role in the gradual rollout of the Andaman network.
Beyond infrastructure, the company is investing heavily in operational readiness. During the opening, Siam Seaplane announced that several Thai pilots have successfully obtained internationally recognized Seaplane Rating certifications through training conducted in France. The milestone is significant not only for the company but also for Thailand's aviation sector, as it lays the groundwork for the country's first commercial amphibious seaplane operations.
For now, Siam Scenic, the company's land-based aviation brand, raft, offering travelers a private aviation experience that bridges the gap between commercial airlines and traditional private jets.
As experiential travel continues to evolve, the demand for convenience, exclusivity, and time-saving journeys is becoming increasingly important. Whether transporting guests directly to island resorts, enabling multi-stop itineraries, or providing aerial perspectives of Thailand's coastlines, seaplane travel has the potential to become one of the country's most distinctive tourism offerings.
