How Siam Seaplane is set to redefine the future of travel

For decades, Thailand’s most beautiful places have asked travelers to earn them. Long drives, tight connections, boat transfers stacked on top of flights, and the inevitable waiting game have been accepted as part of the deal, especially when the destination lies offshore or far from a major airport. But a new chapter in Thai travel is quietly taking shape, one that rethinks not only how we move, but also what the journey itself can be.
Enter Siam Seaplane, Thailand’s first established seaplane service company and a potential game changer for the country’s travel and transportation landscape.
Founded in 2019 with the backing of aviation and business leaders, Siam Seaplane was built on a simple but radical idea: waterfront destinations should not be difficult to reach, and transportation should feel as considered and refined as the destination itself. In a country defined by coastlines, islands, rivers, and reservoirs, the logic feels almost obvious in hindsight.
Unlike conventional aviation, seaplanes bypass the need for runways and heavy infrastructure. They land on water, beaches, or floating docks, opening access to thousands of locations across Thailand’s vast aquatic geography. From island-hopping routes in the south to dam lakes and river basins inland, the potential reach extends far beyond the limits of traditional airports.

“We want to be the household brand in Asia for transportation services that allow people to travel to hard-to-reach destinations with ease and comfort. We are already offering airport-to-airport operations with chartered flights, with water-landing services pending approvals from the Thai government. It is a long and complex process to ensure maximum passenger safety and minimal environmental impact, and it is very likely that we will see Thailand’s first water landing around mid-2026,” said Worakanya Siripidej, CEO of Siam Seaplane.
The company’s dual-brand structure reflects a pragmatic and carefully phased approach. Its sister brand, Siam Scenic, already operates land-to-land charter and scenic flights, building market familiarity and operational depth. From Bangkok, travelers can reach destinations such as Hua Hin, Koh Kood, Chiang Mai, or Phuket in a fraction of the usual travel time, often within one to two hours door-to-destination in the air.
“For our shortest route so far, Bangkok–Hua Hin, the price per flight is THB 110,000 one way and THB 170,000 round trip,” said Pharatah Senapan, Siam Seaplane’s Commercial Director, adding that the all-inclusive pricing also includes VIP lounge access at applicable airports and fast track services. “Another popular route is the Phuket–Samui return trip at THB 480,000. We are also looking to expand to airports in neighboring countries such as Myanmar and Vietnam in the near future.”
When it comes to higher-stakes operations like water landings, what sets Siam Seaplane apart is how deliberately it aligns luxury, efficiency, and sustainability. Its aircraft - the US-made Cessna Grand Caravan EX, capable of operating on both land and water with minimal modification - is powered by advanced turbine engines that are significantly more fuel-efficient than conventional piston aircraft. They produce no lead emissions and operate with a low noise profile that is quieter than most speedboats. Takeoffs and landings are brief, minimizing disruption to both communities and marine ecosystems.
Seaplane connectivity does more than shorten travel times: it reshapes tourism itself. Point-to-point flights help disperse visitors away from overcrowded hubs, channeling economic activity into lesser-known coastal towns and island communities. Improved access has a proven ripple effect: increased land value, new hospitality investment, job creation, and stronger community-based tourism models that support local economies without the burden of large-scale development.
For Thailand’s luxury hospitality sector, the implications are equally significant. Siam Seaplane already works closely with dozens of resort and hotel partners, positioning seaplane travel as both a practical solution and a brand-enhancing experience. Cabins are configured entirely in first-class style, with executive leather seating, generous legroom, and flexible layouts designed for privacy, families, or small groups. The experience sits somewhere between private aviation and curated travel, offering private jet level comfort, but in a more accessible and adaptable form.
“We have just received permission to import six additional aircraft into Thailand,” said Worakanya. “They will all be Cessna Grand Caravan EX models, as we already have the operational know-how and pilot training in place. From an operational perspective, it also makes sense since the aircraft can land on both land and water, which supports our dual-brand structure. We may also customize the interiors to accommodate up to 10–12 passengers and expand booking options from full charters to individual seats through our booking partners. We are preparing to roll out water landings in southern Thailand first, with 20 landing spots across the region from Koh Yao Noi, Koh Lipe to Koh Phi Phi and Koh Phangan, and expanding from there.”
Beyond leisure travel, Siam Seaplane’s relevance extends into public service and conservation. Seaplanes are uniquely suited for coastal monitoring, aerial mapping, patrols against illegal fishing, and emergency response - capabilities that have already attracted interest from marine and environmental authorities. Most recently, Siam Seaplane supported flood relief efforts in southern Thailand by transporting supplies and emergency equipment to areas cut off by rising waters, where roads were inaccessible and larger aircraft or helicopters could not land. In this sense, the aircraft becomes not just a vehicle for travelers, but a tool for stewardship.
At a moment when luxury travel is shifting from accumulation to experience, and when sustainability is no longer optional but expected, Siam Seaplane arrives at exactly the right time.
