A new boutique address reimagines the romance of 1920s Shanghai in one of Bangkok’s most stylish neighborhoods

Bangkok’s hotel scene welcomes a new character-driven arrival as Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott Bonvoy, officially debuts in Thailand with the opening of Metropole Bangkok, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Located in the heart of Thonglor, the newly rebranded hotel brings a cinematic sense of nostalgia to one of the city’s most dynamic districts, blending old-world glamour with contemporary urban energy.
Drawing inspiration from the golden age of Shanghai, once known as the Paris of the East, Metropole Bangkok channels the elegance of 1920s cosmopolitan life through a richly layered design narrative. Colonial architecture meets Chinoiserie influences and Art Deco detailing, while dragons, guardian lions, and delicate floral motifs weave through the interiors. The atmosphere is theatrical yet refined, inviting guests to step into a story rather than simply check in.

That story is anchored in Memoirs of Meiying, a romantic East–West tale imagined through the hotel’s art and spatial design. Meiying, a young Shanghainese woman, and Martin, an English traveler, symbolize cultural exchange, curiosity, and the timeless pull of discovery. Their narrative quietly unfolds throughout the property, shaping its mood and visual identity without overwhelming the guest experience.
“It gives me great pleasure to introduce the Tribute Portfolio’s unique style of storytelling hospitality to Thailand with the opening of Metropole Bangkok,” said Brad Edman, Market Vice President for Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar, Marriott International.
“Tribute Portfolio is a growing collection of characterful, independent boutique hotels united by a common spirit and captivating spaces that bring people together. This makes it perfectly suited to the trendy Thonglor community.”
Metropole Bangkok features 116 rooms, including 113 Studios, two Studio Executive Suites, and a One-Bedroom Suite. Designed for both short and extended stays, each room includes a kitchenette, smart toilet, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests also have access to a 24-hour fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, sauna, and onsite parking.

The hotel’s location adds to its appeal. Positioned for easy access to Sukhumvit and Asoke, it is well connected via Thonglor BTS and Petchaburi MRT stations. Rama 9 is just minutes away, while Suvarnabhumi International Airport is approximately a 40-minute drive with convenient Airport Rail Link connections. Industrial hubs such as Chonburi, Rayong, and Ayutthaya are all within an hour’s drive, making the property a practical base for business travelers. For medical visitors, complimentary shuttle services to Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej Hospital ensure added comfort and convenience.
“At Metropole Bangkok, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, we’re excited to welcome guests to a space where the timeless charm of 1920s Shanghai meets the vibrant energy of Thonglor,” said Sascha Kunze, Cluster General Manager. “Every detail is designed to tell a story and create a sense of romance and creativity, while still feeling relevant to today’s traveler.”
With its narrative-led design, prime Thonglor address, and boutique sensibility, Metropole Bangkok introduces Tribute Portfolio to Thailand in a way that feels nostalgic yet refreshingly current, a new address for travelers who value character as much as comfort.
