Bar Sathorn earns No. 17, reinforcing Bangkok's reputation as one of Asia's top cocktail destinations

Bar Sathorn has once again proven why it is one of Bangkok's standout cocktail destinations. The stylish bar at W Bangkok has climbed to No. 17 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, while also taking home the coveted Nikka Highest Climber Award after making the biggest leap in this year's ranking.
The recognition marks a significant milestone for the Bangkok bar, which debuted on the list at No. 48 in 2025. In just one year, Bar Sathorn has surged 31 places, reinforcing its reputation for innovative cocktails, immersive storytelling, and one of the city's most distinctive heritage settings.

A Cocktail Bar Where Bangkok's History Meets Modern Mixology
Set inside The House on Sathorn, Bar Sathorn occupies one of Bangkok's most iconic heritage buildings. Built in 1889 as a private residence, the mansion has served many roles throughout its long history, including a luxury hotel and the Russian Embassy, before being transformed into a lifestyle destination when W Bangkok opened the property in 2015.
Following its relaunch in 2023, Bar Sathorn introduced a fresh identity that seamlessly blends the mansion's 135-year legacy with contemporary design by AvroKO. The interiors are further elevated by works from emerging Thai artists, creating a space where art, architecture, and cocktails naturally come together.
Today, the bar has become a destination for both Bangkok residents and international visitors looking for an elevated cocktail experience beyond the city's traditional nightlife.
Behind the Award-Winning Cocktails

Leading the bar is Italian Bar Manager Marco Dongi, whose international career spans some of the world's most respected dining and cocktail destinations, including the Michelin-starred Carlo Cracco Restaurant in Milan and the renowned Buddha-Bar Dubai. His experience has helped shape Bar Sathorn into one of Bangkok's most creative cocktail bars.
Rather than focusing solely on technical mixology, Dongi's philosophy centers on storytelling, local ingredients, and sustainability. One of the bar's signature initiatives is the Local Mix Series, which showcases seasonal Thai produce sourced from local farmers. Each cocktail highlights regional flavors while supporting sustainable agriculture and strengthening relationships with local communities.
"This award is a celebration of our guests as much as our team," says Dongi. "Through initiatives like our Local Mix Series, we go beyond mixology to weave sustainability, community, and culture into every glass."

A Cocktail Menu Inspired by Four Eras of Sathorn
One of Bar Sathorn's defining features is its cocktail menu, which takes guests on a journey through the history of The House on Sathorn.
The collection is divided into four chapters:
• History of Sathorn (1888–1926), celebrating the early days of classic cocktails.
• Hotel Royal (1926–1948), inspired by the glamorous years when the mansion operated as a luxury hotel.
• Embassy Row (1948–1999), paying tribute to Sathorn's diplomatic past with globally inspired drinks enhanced by Thai spices.
• The Present (1999–Today), showcasing contemporary cocktails that bridge heritage and innovation.
The concept is set to evolve further with the bar's next menu, which will draw inspiration from the wider Sathorn neighborhood itself, highlighting local landmarks, communities, and stories through new cocktail creations.

A Milestone for W Bangkok
