A 15-year tradition blends equestrian sport, coastal charm, and a social calendar by the sea

Beach Polo Returns to Hua Hin with Sport, Society, and Seaside Spectacle

Hua Hin’s shoreline will once again turn into an unlikely sporting arena as the 15th Princess Pa’s Cup InterContinental – B.Grimm Beach Polo returns on Saturday, 4 April 2026, at InterContinental Hua Hin Resort. Now in its 15th year, the event has grown into one of Thailand’s more distinctive lifestyle gatherings where polo meets the beach, and sport folds into a full day of social activity.

Beach polo, played directly on sand and shaped by tidal conditions, offers a different rhythm from the traditional version of the sport. Matches are shorter, faster, and closer to the audience, making it easier for first-time spectators to follow. Hua Hin remains the only place in Thailand where this format can be staged at scale, thanks to its long, flat beachfront and long-standing connection to horse culture. This year, four international teams from Thailand, Belgium, England, and the United States will compete, adding a global dimension to the competition.

The event, however, is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the sport. The day begins with a beachfront lunch before easing into a mix of sponsor showcases, casual browsing, and light entertainment. A horseback fashion show and equestrian demonstrations add to the program, leading into the late afternoon matches, where the pace picks up and the crowds gather along the sand.

As the sun sets, the tone shifts. The beachfront setting transitions into an evening reception, anchored by the Sea Breeze Garden Party and a performance by the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra. It’s this blend—sport, setting, and social ritual—that has helped the event maintain its appeal over the years.

Beyond the spectacle, the tournament also supports the Kamlangjai Project, an initiative under Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, which focuses on rehabilitation and vocational opportunities for inmates. It adds a layer of purpose to an event that otherwise leans into leisure and lifestyle.

Over time, Beach Polo in Hua Hin has carved out its own niche, sitting somewhere between a sporting event and a social fixture. For visitors and residents alike, it offers a different way to experience the seaside, less about competition, more about community, atmosphere, and a shared day by the water.
