ICONSIAM continues to position itself as more than a riverside landmark, stepping confidently into the role of cultural connector with an intimate evening that brought together global art leadership and Thailand’s creative voices. Recently, the destination hosted an exclusive dinner reception welcoming Los Angeles County Museum of Art executives during their official visit to Thailand, underscoring ICONSIAM’s ambition to be a global platform for artistic exchange.

The evening welcomed Michael Govan, CEO and Director of LACMA, alongside his delegation, and was hosted by Chayapa Chutrakul, Global Brand Ambassador of LACMA and Executive Director of The Bureau of Wonders, together with Kulapat Yantrasast, Founder and Creative Director of WHY Architecture, Jay Spencer, Advisor Institutional Partnerships & Strategy of Siam Piwat Group, and ICONSIAM’s executive team. More than 40 distinguished guests attended, including National Artists and leading Thai artists from across disciplines, creating a rare forum for meaningful dialogue within the contemporary art community.

Set at Blue by Alain Ducasse, the one-Michelin-starred restaurant overlooking the Chao Phraya River, the evening unfolded as a refined blend of gastronomy, artistic atmosphere, and Thai hospitality. Thoughtfully curated menus framed conversations that flowed easily between generations and cultures, reinforcing the idea that creativity thrives in shared spaces.

One of the most resonant moments came from an exchange between Preecha Thaothong, Professor Emeritus and National Artist (Visual Arts – Painting, 2009), and Michael Govan. Their conversation captured the essence of the gathering, illustrating how art transcends borders, time, and geography when dialogue is encouraged and nurtured.

Reflecting on the evening, Chayapa Chutrakul shared that art remains one of the most universal languages for connection, describing the gathering as the beginning of a dialogue with the potential to grow into impactful global collaborations. That spirit of exchange carried through the night, with discussions touching on cultural heritage, contemporary practice, and the evolving role of institutions in shaping a shared artistic future.

By hosting the LACMA delegation, ICONSIAM reaffirmed its long-term vision to champion art and culture in all dimensions. Beyond its retail and lifestyle offerings, the destination continues to cultivate meaningful international relationships, reinforcing Thailand’s growing presence as an Art Hub of Asia and a confident voice on the global cultural stage.
